Spheres of Impact

Shaping all aspects of our exhibition, residency program and community outreach, the Spheres of Impact create dynamic partnerships between the Center and a myriad of organizations in our community, while raising the visibility of artists to spark positive social and global change.

Education

Each year an art teacher is given a sabbatical to pursue their studio work and develop a new curriculum for the classroom.

The Center has strong ongoing partnerships with CMS and UNC Charlotte. In the past, one CMS art teacher was provided a three-month residency. During this time, the art teacher was given a sabbatical to pursue their studio work and develop a new curriculum for the classroom. The art teacher continued to receive their salary and benefits, and a substitute teacher was hired to teach their classes while they were in residence. The CMS Art Teacher-in-Residence was jointly selected by CMS and the Center and was generously sponsored by Gail Peacock, a former CMS art teacher.

The Center’s relationship with UNC Charlotte has evolved over twelve years. UNC Charlotte sponsors a jointly selected artist-in-residence who works with students and a lead faculty member allowing students to benefit from learning the artist’s creative process and resulting in the students, educators and artists creating a culminating collaborative project.
