McColl Center for Visual Art - Outdoor Sculpture Project

McColl Center for Visual Art is actively seeking proposals from artists for its Outdoor Sculpture Project, which will be located on the front lawn of the Center. The size of the lawn is approximately 3,000 sq ft. This is a special opportunity for artists to design and create temporary work for the lawn of one of the
Country’s leading urban artist communities. Individual artists as well as groups are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to those proposals that provide an innovative use of materials and structures. A $1,000 honorarium will be provided.

McColl Center for Visual Art - Gallery 115

As an extension to its current exhibition program, the Center is actively seeking proposals from visual or interdisciplinary artists, curators, architects and designers for exhibitions in one of its main galleries, Gallery 115. Located on the main level of the Center, Gallery 115 is approximately 1500 sq ft. This is a unique opportunity to exhibit in one of the area’s premier spaces. Proposals may also include new media, site-specific installations, performance, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, graphic design, and fashion design. Individual artists as well as groups are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to those proposals that provide an experimental approach to contemporary art or exhibitions, innovative use of space, encourage community dialog or support curriculum-based programming. A $1,000 honorarium will be provided.

Presented by the Arts and Science Council, the ARTIST AS ENTREPRENUR INSTITUTE teaches artists of all disciplines the fundamentals of business through a 3-session, 24-hour course. The program covers a range of topics that impact artists’ daily operations, from selecting an incorporation model to marketing and writing a business plan. The 18-module course is taught by local business professionals, artists and non-artists, practicing in a variety of small business functions. The AEI curriculum offers critical support for artists, enabling them to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the larger urban arts and culture sector. Click here for more information.
The JAN VAN EYEK ACADEMIE is an international post-academic institute for research and production in the areas of fine art, design and theory. For the upcoming academic year, starting on 1 January 2011, the JVE has research positions available in the Departments of Fine Art and Design. PUBLIC ART PROJECT - The North Carolina Arts Council seeks to commission artists for two park-sited public art projects, each of which will become a centerpiece of cultural tourism trails celebrating the state’s rich history, creative heritage, and contemporary artistic practices. Applicant artists must be U.S. citizens or legal residents aged eighteen years or older. Artists may apply to both RFQs, but they must submit two separate application packages.
