///BAILEY DOOGAN : PAINTING, DRAWING
Location: Tuscon, AZ
Bailey Doogan earned her MFA at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and an MA in Animated Film at UCLA. She is a Professor Emerita of Painting and Drawing at the University of Arizona at Tucson. The representation of the human body is an enduring subject in her large scale drawings. Bailey often explores the relation of language to the human body by combining text with images. She feels that "words hang in the air and push against our bodies..." Bailey's images speak of the relationship between the worlds of discourse and appearance. In her work, she considers the questions "How is beauty defined? Is it intrinsically personal? Is it universal?" Is it based on interaction, or is it iconic?
