McColl Center names Alli Celebron-Brown as President + CEO

McColl Center for Art + Innovation has named Alli Celebron-Brown as its next President + CEO. She will assume the role on December 4, 2017. McColl Center’s board of directors worked with the executive search firm Coleman Lew + Associates, which conducted a national search.

“Leading McColl Center for Art + Innovation is an incredible honor,” said Celebron-Brown. “This institution is a national trailblazer in artist residency programs and in connecting contemporary art with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.”

Celebron-Brown brings an extensive background of development, strategic planning, and organizational design to the role of President + CEO. A fourteen-year veteran of nonprofit leadership, she comes to McColl Center from Foundation for the Carolinas in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as Vice President and Director of Community Programs. In that role, Celebron-Brown oversaw key program teams and managed a portfolio of grants focused on healthcare, education, youth development, and the arts. She also served as a staff member to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force.

Past work includes consulting and support for large-scale civic leadership efforts such as the Future of the Library Task Force, Citizens’ Task Force on Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and United Agenda for Children. She has served nonprofits in change management roles for healthcare and arts organizations by overseeing and executing organizational restructuring, strategic planning, and development department audits. Celebron-Brown also had a role on a team charged with early planning to the launch of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte.

“Art has a unique way of inviting us to have conversations and opening us to new perspectives so that we may understand different points of view,” she added. “Charlotte is experiencing a resurgence in the area of social capital and dialogue and the Center has long been a leader in establishing community discourse. There is no better time for the organization to lean into that space.”

“We are excited to have Alli as our new President + CEO,” said Cassie Brown, chair of McColl Center’s board of directors. “Her strong leadership and expertise is well-suited for our talented and dedicated staff, and our organization as a whole. We look forward to her leading McColl Center into its bold future.”

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Celebron-Brown is a graduate of the University of Iowa. She lives in Charlotte with her husband, Kyle, and their two daughters.

“It is humbling to follow in Suzanne Fetscher’s footsteps and to build on the legacy she created,” added Celebron-Brown, referring to McColl Center’s founding President + CEO, who retired in September. “As I look to the future, I am eager to develop ways to engage new audiences and supporters, while also establishing innovative approaches to the Center’s business model. I am appreciative of this opportunity and look forward to contributing to McColl Center for Art + Innovation alongside its board of directors, staff, and artists.”
