RES ARTIS
Here at McColl Center for Visual Art, we love hearing about how both past and present resident artists are succeeding in their practices today. We wanted to share an article from Res Artis to illustrate how many artists and patrons use the internationally-recognized network as a springboard for other artist residency programs. From a general meeting in Tokyo, Japan, to new residencies in Morocco, the article highlights some of the big projects and opportunities for residential arts centers around the world.
Beginning in 1993 as a volunteer organization, Res Artis began to represent and support the needs of residential arts centers and residency programs. Over the past two decades, the organization has expanded into the largest of its kind: an online international springboard for residency programs.
The current mission of Res Artis is to:
• Provide a forum to support and represent the interests of residential arts centers and programs internationally
• Contribute to the creation of an international network of residential arts centers and programs that provide artists with facilities and conditions conducive to creative work and that actively involve artists from more than one country
• Foster residential arts centers and programs that show a genuine will to sustain or improve the quality of artistic endeavors in any culture.
