Join the Contemporaries on October 16 when we head to MoNA gallery in Plaza Midwood to view the work of Charlotte-based alumnus artist, Nancy G. Cook. In her series Seed Play, Nancy creates realistic, enlarged images of nature using textiles, ink, and thread. Nancy’s fascination with the unique architecture of tree seeds is clearly visible in her bright and captivating fiber “paintings” that symbolize the cycles of life. The effortless looks are created with a mixture of detailed pieces that mimic the microscopic view of a plant’s cellular makeup to the big picture of plants along a riverbank. For more information about Nancy and to view more of her work, visit: www.nancygcook.com
MoNA Gallery (1200 Central Ave) is located at the corner of Central Avenue and Hawthorne Lane. After the gallery visit, the conversation will continue over food and drinks at Tres Pesos Bar and Grill (4918 Central Ave).
MoNA exhibits the work of local, regional, and national contemporary artists. They have monthly changing first Friday exhibits, offer in house fine custom framing services, and feature a gift shop brimming with regional craft, textiles, jewelry, functional pottery, and photography.
