Open House

Celebrating artists + art

The start of an artist residency season at McColl Center is always a time for celebration. Open House is your opportunity to meet our new artists-in-residence in their studios and get a first look at our summer exhibition, The Open Orchard.

Free admission, cash bar, and live music.

Artists-in-residence: Eliana Arenas, Julio Gonzalez, Monique Luck, April Marten, Sam Van Aken, Antoine Williams, and Stephanie J. Woods.

Exhibition: Exhibiting artist-in-residence Sam Van Aken transforms the first-floor gallery into a living exhibition and workshop space called The Open Orchard, where he will preserve heirloom and antique fruit varieties before they disappear. Included will be botanical illustrations, tree stumps taken from old heirloom orchards, herbarium specimens of pressed branches and flowers, and more. Learn more about The Open Orchard.

Free parking: On N. Tryon St. after 6 p.m. and in the lot at the corner of W. 10th St. and N. Church St. (behind Charlotte Ballet).
