Whisper Recordings with Dustin Farnsworth (12-4 PM)
Windgate Artist-in-Residence Dustin Farnsworth will be recording the whispered hopes and fears of young visitors (age range 8-16 years old, ideally), which will become an audio component of a new sculpture by the artist. The anonymous recordings aim to create an audio catalog of youth in the Charlotte area, living on in perpetuity as an integral part of the finished artwork.
Watch Catawba by Rob Carter (12-4 PM)
Using both video and animation techniques, Catawba is artist-in-residence Rob Carter’s brief portrait of the significance of the local river, its manipulation, and the places gained and lost by the formation of Lake Norman. Watch the video and speak with the artist in his studio about art and the natural world.
Crochet Demo with Mary Tuma (1-2 PM)
Alumna artist Mary Tuma will be demonstrating the crochet techniques used in her artwork featured in the exhibition, Tell Me More. Visitors are welcome to watch and ask questions.
