You’re invited to The Outcome, a party to celebrate the closing of the fall 2019 artist residency season at McColl Center. Come see what artists-in-residence Anna Garner, Jason H. Green, Lacey McKinney, Pablo Rasgado, Sherrill Roland, and Brittney Leeanne Williams have been working on during their residencies.
While you’re here, and for a deeper understanding of their practice, ask the artists the following questions:
- What inspires your artwork?
- What themes do you pursue?
- What subjects inspire you?
- Who are your biggest influences?
Live music provided by Alfred Sergel IV, playing his original music which fuses pop melodic undertones with a classic jazz piano trio. We’ll also have a beer and wine bar and more ways to engage with art and creativity.
Members Meet the Artists: Lori Larusso
First-Floor Studio, first floor
McColl Center Members are invited to a very special members-only reception to meet alumna/exhibiting artist Lori Larusso (2010) before The Outcome at 5:00 p.m. Visiting curator Laura Ritchie will present her vision for the exhibition, New Works / Alumni Four, and introduce us, in conversation, to Larusso, whose work is featured in the exhibition. Complimentary sparkling wine and light bites included.
The Dreamers Project by alumna artist Rosalia Torres-Weiner
Artist Lounge, second floor
McColl Center alumna artist Rosalia Torres-Weiner (2014) created a series of paintings based on the stories and lives of six Dreamers (young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children) and an augmented reality app called “Red CalacAR” that allows you to hear the stories behind the paintings in the young people’s own voices. This project was exhibited at the Leyland Gallery at Georgia College last year in an effort to raise awareness about Dreamers. Torres-Weiner will share more with you about this project during The Outcome.
