Quilters, join McColl Center artist-in-residence Andrew Wilson in his studio for a quilting circle and conversation. Andrew Wilson is a craft-based artist from Oakland who attributes his passion for art to his grandmother and works with a variety of mediums including jewelry, sculpture, textiles, book arts, fiber arts, fashion, photography, poetry, performance, and installation. He enjoys the communal atmosphere a quilting circle offers and welcomes fellow quilters to bring their own supplies and join him in one or more sessions. Please RSVP by the day prior to the session to reserve your space.
How to get here and where to park
We’re located at 721 N. Tryon St. in Uptown Charlotte. Plenty of free parking is available on N. Tryon St. weekdays after 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, and in the lot at the corner of W. 10th St. and N. Church St. (behind Charlotte Ballet).
Our accessible entrance is located at the end of the ramp at the rear of our building. If you’re visiting from the N. Church Street side of our campus and our gate is closed, pull into the driveway and call 704-332-5535 to speak to the attendant at our welcome desk. They will come down and open the gate (which we keep closed for security purposes) in a few minutes. If you’re visiting from the N. Tryon Street side, proceed towards the building, then follow the paved pathway to the left along the side of the building. (Our building will be on your right as you proceed towards the ramp.) When you reach the end of the ramp, the entrance will be on your right. Near the door and bay door will be a call box. Press the call button to speak with the attendant at our welcome desk. They will unlock the door for you remotely. Proceed through our sculpture studio and into our building until you see the elevator on your right. Proceed to our welcome desk on the first floor to check in with our attendant.
