Artist Edison Peñafiel uses video and installation to create experiences “about those on the underside of the world’s major conflicts: the migrant, the laborer, the surveilled.” His transformation of space prompts us to question our human experience through the lens of displaced and relocated persons.
In this time of COVID-19, those ideas and these questions resonate even louder: How are those at the margins affected? What is our human experience? How do we share this experience as documented by creatives?
Join Peñafiel, University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum curator-at-large Christian Viveros-Fauné, and visiting curator Jonell Logan for a Facebook Live conversation that explores these questions, Peñafiel’s work, and the need to share and promote visual culture today through virtual means.
