In 2020, we have radically adapted our interactions due to social distancing and are redefining what it means to be present. We now turn largely to virtual connections and find safety in relative isolation. Physical presence has become exceptional, but the need remains for us to connect in meaningful, human ways. Fall 2020 artists-in-residence Zalika Azim, Miguel Braceli, Jillian Mayer, and Hernan Paganini gather virtually to chat with UNCC Director of Galleries Adam N. Justice about the changes in their residency experience, effects on their studio practice, and ways they now approach presence and connection in their work.
