Fall, spring, and summer opportunities

Mission

McColl Center for Art + Innovation’s Internship Program is designed to give individuals who are interested in the arts an opportunity to work in the field. 

Internships with McColl Center provide the next generation of arts administrators with the opportunity to be involved in a variety of tasks supporting the operations of a contemporary arts space and artist residency program.

Interns will work with staff in various departments at McColl Center, and get real-life, professional experience. While you will have experiences working with all of our staff, interns apply to work in a single department that meets their primary interests. Internships are available in the following departments:

  • Residency + Programs: Leads exhibitions, artists-in-residence program, and public programming. Interns will work with the Residency + Programs team to provide support to the artists-in-residence and contracted artists to execute events and programs like open house, artist talks, and summer arts camps. Interns will gain hands-on experience assisting the artists-in-residence in their creative process ranging from research to studio assistance.
  • Marketing: Promotes McColl Center and its initiatives. Marketing interns can expect unique learning experiences specific to current marketing needs by helping to prepare content for programming and development campaigns. Interns will gain experience collecting and formatting content for targeted audiences and marketing channels, including blogs, emails, and social media.
  • Development: Fundraises and cultivates donor relationships. The Development interns will provide essential assistance in raising funds for programs and general operating costs. Development interns will be responsible for researching potential donors and members. They will help prepare, edit, and record acknowledgments and supporting materials. They will also assist in planning fundraising events and manage filing and database entry.
  • Events: Plans, develops, and executes external events at McColl Center. Events interns can expect to work with Marketing staff to create hard copy collateral and social media outreach for venue rentals. Conducting research, making site visits, and assisting with on-site production and clean up for events will also be part of the internship duties.
  • Administration: Manages the day-to-operations of the office. Administrative interns will gain experience with data management software, data entry, and archiving. They can also expect to conduct research on McColl Center’s residency program for the purposes of collecting data to update existing files.

*Internships may not be available every term in all departments.

You can use this opportunity to receive college credits if you are currently enrolled. Please check with your school. Positions for internships are limited and competitive. This position is unpaid.

Intern Duties and Requirements

Internships are offered to individuals who are who are interested in getting hands-on experience in the arts. Ideal candidates are pursuing a career in the arts. 

Time commitments and responsibilities for internships can vary by department and will be agreed upon between intern and supervisor.

Spring Semester: November 1

Summer: April 15
