WORKSHOP TRAINING DAYS
Saturdays, February 18 & 25, 2023, from 10:00am - 2:00pm
Get an introduction to woodworking or build on your skills. Artists in this eight-hour workshop will learn proper studio practices while safely using all the equipment and tools in the woodworking lab, a prerequisite for more advanced woodworking. You will gain experience to safely and comfortably use basic hand and stationary tools, and an understanding of the benefits of each. With equipment and essential skills, each artist will construct a sturdy, braced panel or box, perfect for displaying art.
MATERIALS / TOOLS
Panel saw, table saw, band saw, disc sander, palm sander, drill and nail gun. The workshop price includes all materials.
INSTRUCTOR
McColl Center Studio Manager, Kristen Rowell is a multi-media artists from Beaufort, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture and painting from Winthrop University. She uses many different materials when creating her abstract and representational works, including cinder blocks, steel, wood, sand, graphite, paint, and non-traditional materials such as spices. She enjoys prompting the viewer to think about the materials, movement, and motifs of her art and how each relates to their own personal human experience.
