Elizabeth Turk received her MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, and her undergraduate degree from Scripps College in California. In all of her work, there is a high degree of craftmanship regardless of material. She admires artwork that contains many layers and is accessible, even simple at first glance, yet infinitely complex upon reflection. She attempts to make her art beautiful... beautiful but honest. Currently, she is working on a series of marble "lace" collars where, from a single block of marble, she carves systems of overlapping patterns.
