ABOUT THE ARTIST:
MEREDITH CONNELLY
Meredith Connelly is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for her immersive, illuminated installations that intertwine art, science, and technology. Drawing inspiration from natural forms and microscopic structures, her work transforms public spaces into enchanting environments that invite exploration and introspection. Connelly's art not only captivates visually but fosters a deeper connection between viewers and the natural world.
She explores light as both material and metaphor across a wide range of public settings, including forests, parks, tunnels, and city streets, engaging hundreds of thousands of viewers. In 2019, LIGHTS at the U.S. National Whitewater Center welcomed over 200,000 visitors. More recently, Rail Trail Lights: Golden Threads transformed Charlotte’s Rail Trail with a multi-site installation inspired by patterns in nature, textiles, and technology. She also creates intricate hand-cut paper works inspired by microscopic imagery and botanical structures. These works have been exhibited throughout the Southeast and are included in private, corporate, and institutional collections.
Recent curatorial work includes Sovereign: Honoring Bodily Autonomy, a multidisciplinary exhibition focused on agency, identity, and care, presented in partnership with the McColl Center, Charlotte Is Creative, and Safe Alliance. She also speaks regularly on topics such as creative renewal, business practices for artists, and the role of public art in shaping more connected communities.
