Alyssa Wood received her BFA and MFA from the UNC-Chapel Hill, studied at Penland School for Crafts with Cynthia Bringle, and worked as a studio assistant to Cary Esser. Wood’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Janette Kennedy Gallery in Dallas, Artspace (Raleigh), Artspace (Richmond, VA), Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, and The Clay Studio in Philadephia. She was awarded a McKnight Foundation residency through the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis and a Regional Artist Project Grant through the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte, NC. She makes sculptural and drawn ceramic tiles as well as mixed media drawings. Her work plays on themes of home, ritual, and nostalgia.
