Amy Johnson is a multidisciplinary artist who combines contemporary art and craft to blur the line between fiction and nonfiction. Johnson’s work reflects her life and what surrounds her, such as cultural expectations for women, her Southern heritage, living in the North, and the landscape. Johnson holds a BS in sociology from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, and received a BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with concentrations in photography and ceramics. In 2007, Johnson received an MFA from the University of Washington ceramics program. In 2014, she was a Rasmuson Foundation fellowship recipient.
Johnson is an artist-in-residence in partnership with Rasmuson Foundation, Anchorage, Alaska. Her residency is generously supported by the Windgate Charitable Fund.
