Cathy McClure is an anti-disciplinarian artist. The same year she received her MFA, she was awarded the Seattle Art Museum’s Betty Bowen Memorial Award Grand Prize. McClure has also received a residency at Le Quai Fete in Paris, a 2018 AIR at Pilchuck Glass School and a 2021 AIR at the Vashon Artist Residency. Her work is part of several collections, The Pace Collection, the White House and the Bard Collection. She has had solo shows at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Nassau County Museum. She has exhibited widely, including the Milton Hershey School Museum, the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts and Art Miami Basel. Since 2017, she has been the Artist Consultant for the 4-block expansion of the Seattle Convention Center Summit building in downtown Seattle. She has recently completed a large-scale public artwork for the new building, which opened in January of 2023.
