By transforming nontraditional materials into objects of adornment, Eliana R. Arenas's jewelry challenges the wearers to confront the dichotomy created by unexpected events and the state of being present in one location while being away from home. Arenas earned a BFA in Metalsmithing and Graphic Design from University of Texas – El Paso and an M.F.A. in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from New Mexico State University. Her art is in the permanent education collection at the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, OR.
