Guy Chase received a BFA from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota and completed an MFA in painting and drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a member of Christians in The Visual Arts, and his work comments on the interpretation and understanding of prayer and meditation. The materials and shapes in his paintings allude to historical icons or altar pieces of Eastern and Western forms of worship and spirituality. Guy strives to draw out unusual connections that draw attention to question assumptions; spending time with this process as a way of testing his own values. While in residence at McColl Center, his work will include Like A Prayer: A Jewish and Christian Presence in Contemporary Art, an exhibition presented by McColl Center for Visual Art at the Spirit Square Community School for the Arts.
