Mendes received her BFA in Ceramics from Washington University in St. Louis. A full time studio artist, she exhibits her work throughout the United States and internationally. Other residencies include The Resen Ceramics Colony in Resen, Macedonia and Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. Using mythology and folk art as her premise, Jenny Mendes uses figurative imagery, both human and animal to create charismatic stories of a much larger scale. Embracing this historical tradition, she always includes elements of the artist’s touch, thereby confirming the existence of the maker in each piece.
