Maritea Dæhlin is an interdisciplinary artist raised between Mexico and Norway, with a second-generation Bamiléké heritage from Cameroon. Her dynamic upbringing, navigating diverse cultures and languages, deeply influences her creative practice, providing a foundation for exploring themes of identity, multilingualism, and shifting perspectives.
Maritea's work spans theatre, video, sound, performance, photography and text. Her practice challenges boundaries, inviting audiences to engage with nonlinear narratives and complex identities.
Maritea has a BA in Devised Theatre with Digital Arts at Dartington College of Arts (2007-2010) and was an associated artist at Black Box teater (2020-2021). Her work has been nominated for the Norwegian critic’s prize (2020) and for the Heddapris (2022).
She is currently working on a new solo exhibitions for different locations in Norway and will exhibit at the Biennale of Sydney in 2026
