Mark Maio is a photographer with a BS in Biomedical Photography from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, and an MFA, as well as an MA, in Humanities from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He divides his time between medical/scientific photography and his more personal documentary projects, which he classifies as visual sociology. His residency at the McColl Center is based at the Carolina HealthCare Center where he applied his imaging skills to the concept of the medical profession treating the person, not just the patient.
