Matilde Grau studied at the Massana Art School and later completed a BFA at the University of Barcelona. Her work is often based on personal feelings, and her sculptures become interactive games in which the viewer attempts to decipher her private thoughts. Her choice of color, material, and technique surfaces from her subconscious and is not applied through practical reasoning. Her work then serves as a gauge for her feelings. The sculptures are designed in the form of abstract landscapes, the large-scale sculptures having religious connotations, while her smaller pieces are to be viewed as inner landscapes that speak of feelings, emotions, intimacies, and secrets.
