Paula Smith received her BFA with a concentration in ceramics from the Kansas Art Institute and her MFA from the University of Illinois. Her sculptures combine the every day with the surreal. The metaphor of "woman as vessel" is an idea that inspires her - she has been making female torso pieces for the last 15 years.
