Terry Shipley, ceramic artist, works in hand built, slab constructed clay. Her distinctive body of work is usually sculptural, sometimes functional, always decorative. Imagery often follows her curiosity and love of nature, specifically flowers, animals, and insects, often with a playful twist. She has continued her exploration in clay through classes and workshops at Penland School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Her work can be seen in several private and corporate collections, as well as through projects with the McColl Center for Arts + Innovation and the Arts and Science Council in Charlotte, NC. She exhibits regularly at Ciel Gallery and various other group shows throughout the year.
