Raised in rural North Carolina, Willie Little creates work heavily influenced by the rituals, family dynamics, and mores of the South, juxtaposing traditional symbols of hatred and social decay with stories of hope, triumph and restoration. Though culturally rooted in Southern tradition, his work identifies with universal experiences – across geographic, racial and socio-economic boundaries – to encourage open dialogue. Little received his BFA from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and his Juke Joint installation was exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. He currently works and resides in Northern California.
