Nadia Ogunfowora, Atrium Mural Artist

Nadia

There are also not a lot of opportunities like this one. Most of the time when there are open calls like this one, they are looking for a muralist, as opposed to someone who paints on more standard size surfaces. This will also be the second time I've had something I've painted to be blown up. Maybe this is a niche I didn't know I had.

Nadia Ogunforwora creates the art she wants to see in the world.

Nadia believes as she is getting older and the world is getting harsher, it is important to be a conductor of joy. Thus, she is drawn to and creates art that generates the effect of joyful attraction. Her art may have layered meanings, but at the core, she seeks to create visuals that bring happiness, impart comfort after a trying day, or that simply become a favorite image discovered on a morning coffee run.

Nadia’s works refer to the mythos and magic of being black.

The gravity-defying Afro that reaches for the sun.

The fullness of lips that tell you I see you and I love you.

The grace of hands that nurture and comfort.
