FAQ’s for Artist Studio Series

Is this workshop series for beginners or practicing artists?

Our goal for these workshops is to help creatives at all levels, beginner, and experienced artists alike. Our teaching artists will share the fundamentals with you and then guide you as you explore the medium. Rather than focus on a strict curriculum or specific project, we want to empower you to find your own voice and give you the skills to create an artistic practice. Whether you are a painter who wants to try sculpting or someone who just wants to be more creative, you will find an engaging practice and a supportive community.

Does each session build on the next?

Our teaching artists have the flexibility to adapt to the students each session. As a result, you’ll be able to develop your skill level over time in an atelier style atmosphere. This means you can continue to learn new things specific to your practice with each new session. New students will receive the fundamental instructions while continuing students can fine tune their skills with one-on-one guidance. The classroom is a place to share ideas and build a community of artists that help and learn from each other.

How many students are in the class?

The maximum number is 15.

Are materials provided?

We provide basic art supplies including clay, underglaze, drawing materials, paints, printing ink, papers, etc. Artists may prefer to bring their own supplies as they progress. Only clear glaze will be provided for the ceramics class as students will learn about cold finishes which allow for more control when working in sculpture.

Is there a place to leave my work?

Storage will be provided for ceramic work and wet canvases. Artists working in paper are encouraged to bring a portfolio to transport their work.
