Majka Dokudowicz

“Art, at its core, focuses on the unseen and the absent.”

2 Majka Dokudowicz Infinite Fragments

My artistic practice is rooted in the exploration of the "Metaxy" – a liminal space where tension, paradox, and possibility converge. This realm, situated between two poles of existence, is where I find myself drawn to fragments, memories, traces, and excerpts. These elements, simultaneously incomplete and suggestive, broken and whole, finite and infinite, become symbols of the human condition. They encapsulate the essence of living in a world that is perpetually evolving and transforming.

Art, at its core, focuses on the unseen and the absent. For me, printmaking has always embodied the pursuit of the unknown and the creation of presence through absence. In my artistic works I examine the paradoxical pursuit and phenomenon of appearance through disappearance, a force that I consider both unforeseen and extraordinary.

The fragmented nature of my work encourages viewers to imagine what is missing, what lies beyond, and what remains concealed. I capture fleeting moments that define our existence.

Through the mediums of printmaking, artists’ books, papermaking and sculpture I evoke a continuous dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the past and the present, the known and the unknown both in my individual and collaborative practice with Ioannis Anastasiou.
