Time: 1:00 PM —3:00 PM

Join artists-in-residence Ioannis Anastasiou and Majka Dokudowicz in creating a collaborative zine that reflects both Charlotte's and artists shared histories. Perfect for both beginners and more seasoned artists, participants will craft unique collages that blend vintage and modern photos of Charlotte’s vibrant scenery with their own personal narratives. Working collaboratively, they will compile each participants creations into a zine that celebrates the city's charm through a collective lens.

With no special skills required, this casual and engaging workshop invites teens ages 13-18 to explore the possibilities of art, community, and publication. At the end, each participant will take home a copy of the collaborative zine for their own collection!

All materials will be supplied! Open to ages 13-18, and all levels of experience welcome.

About the Artists:

Ioannis Anastasiou: My artistic research delves into the vast landscape of collective memory, excavating fragments of the everyday and the extraordinary. Through my work, I explore the interplay between the familiar and the peculiar, weaving narratives that span the spectrum of human remembrance.

From the echoes of war to the quiet whispers of remembrance, from the readily understood to the unsettlingly ambiguous, my works navigate the complexities of memory's reconstruction and misconstruction. I seek to capture the essence of the past, present, and potential futures, inviting viewers to contemplate the impact of the individual, the public, the personal, the forgotten.

Through the mediums of printmaking, artists' books, installation, and sculpture, I explore the shared space between the intelligible and the obscure, both in my individual and collaborative practice with Majka Dokudowicz.
